Read an article about this guy building a jetpack at $100K for public. Really inspired by his effort and perseverance. If only I have half his time and talent...
Then again about the story of sending stuff to space using balloon and rocket at really low cost. Why didn't the big guys think about this possibility instead of wasting millions of dollars, correction billions of dollars or "high tech" expensive space gears.
I have been very interested in space adventure, although not any where near a pro, I try to understand. To my understanding, apparently explosive works because of the ultimate number of molecules the reaction causes. Since each molecule occupy a certain amount of space, when a sudden expansion of it will cause explosion.
Consider car petrol, the chemical reaction cher out more molecules then it originally has in petrol.
Will TNT be able to power a rocket in that manner?

Vending air in Space
Just an interesting thought.... As I was looking up into the sky yesterday. I was admiring the wonderful effect of blue sky and clouds.
It makes me wonder if gravity can hold the air and our atmosphere then why do science fiction still shows the vending of air in space.
We can create artificial gravity today by spining things around i.e. using centripetal force. Then wouldn't the air be bounded by gravity... we are talking about space now not aircraft. If the gravitational force is strong then we wont vent air!

Any volunteer for 1 way space mission?
Ever wonder if we will ever live on other planet during our life time? No Chance, I'll say. The truth is looking at the pace we are heading, we're nowhere close in achieving.
In the early millennium, we conquered new land in such a short time; Thru' sails and later steam engines. Look at us now... we step on moon in 1960s yet we are still refusing to move ahead. Human stop taking risks.
We send half bake robot with a old 286 PC, black n white camera; stop making any more shuttles, send only a handful of people out to space, on huge budget, btw still get cut every time... Come on .. the Chinese invented rockets thousand years ago on firecrackers didn't they. We are still using the same technology.
Virgin airline will probably be able to commercialise around 'earth' space touring, but where is our adventurous nature anymore? If we ask around, I'm sure there will be thousands if not more volunteers to sign up for 1 way space missions, instead of queuing up for iPhones!
